Week of April 27th

Hello, my friends!

The week ahead takes me mostly to private parties but you may join me at my regular Wednesday evening balloon twisting spot - Friendly's on Shoemaker Road in Pottstown - yes, right by the Wal-Mart. I will be there from 5PM - 7:30PM.

Click here to join the Best Friends of Friendly's club online and get a 3-scoop sundae just for enrolling. Also, don't forget about the Sprinkle Vision at Friendly's where you may enter to win free ice cream for a year. My daughter enjoyed using her glasses with the online game.

Come into Friendly's this week and tell me you read my blog - I will have a surprise for you. Hope to see you there.

Have a wonderful week, everyone.

A Balloon Twisting Debut..

I decided twisted balloons for the Valley Homeschoolers Cyber School Fair this week. We went last year just to get information and enjoyed it very much. While our family does not use a cyber school, they do work well for many families and who knows, one may work for us down the road. Anyway, I thought it would be nice to keep the children occupied with some balloon sculptures so that the mothers would then have a chance to ask questions from the schools - there were at least nine schools in attendance and more than 200 people showed up for the fair!

Since it was during the day, my daughter had to attend with me. When I asked her if she would like to participate as a balloon twister - she JUMPED at the chance. I showed her how to make a balloon dog and she made them for children while they waited in line for me. We picked out her clothes and she even let me curl her hair for the first time in her life!!!! She decided her twister name is "Butterfly Balloon." She kept track of how many balloons she made and offered dogs and a surprise balloon (whatever her little hands wanted to make). Everyone was so kind to her. She was quite disappointed when the line got short. When we finished (two hours of twisting) she said to me "I want to keep going." In the car, I asked her if it felt like 2 hours, she said "No, about 20 minutes." That is how it usually feels for me. We celebrated with a quick trip to a park and a stop at Dunkin Donuts on the way home.

The picture above is of her ready to head to the gig with a practice puppy that she made - she made a wristband with the long tails that her dogs had so they would attach to the child's wrist (as in the picture).

Making a column...

I needed an excuse to make another balloon column as I really wanted the practice. I decided that since I'll be at the car show on Saturday, I would make one, to draw attention to me as well as see how it holds up outside - it will be a very warm day. My daughter was very willing to help! I will post some pictures of the finished product this weekend.

May the force be with you...

A friend asked for an R2D2 for her sons birthday. I originally planned to look and see what other twisters had done and gone from there but I opted to use my creativity. I pulled up a picture of the little guy on the internet and went from there. Definitely a parody as its features are "cartoony" which is what I was going for....but considering it is all my design, that alone has me happy. He is about 2.5 feet tall. Hope you all are having a blessed week!

Easter Baskets

These were my two Easter Basket creations. The baskets are fun. The tough part is finding the time to make them. Balloon Heart Jr. helped decorate the top one.
